"rising tide" is a temporary installation by artist jason de caires taylor which was situated on the shores of river thames, london, during the totally thames festival in september 2015. the horses´ heads are oil pumpjacks and symbolise the thread of fossile energy exploitation. the water level of the river thames rises 7 meters from low to high tide in this particular spot, so it´s an ideal place to show the effects of oil driven climate change. the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse shown here, two of them children, represent the present and the future generations, one causing, one suffering.
